International Studies Abroad ®est. 1987

Location: Spain

On our day trip to Ronda we visit one of Andalusia's uniquely situated ancient cities, founded by Romans in the midst of beautiful green valleys and dramatic cliffs. Situated in the province of Málaga, the city is perched atop a sheered-off canyon where the meseta gives way to a gorge known as the Tajo, with spectacular views of the Guadalevin River below.

With expert local tour guides, students will be invited to consider not just the dramatic unfolding here of many romances fronterizas during the medieval days of "Moors and Christians," but also to appreciate the ongoing attraction of this charming village, which has lured many celebrated figures from throughout Europe and America, in addition to the millions of tourists it draws each year. Students will also visit the Hammam, or Arab Baths of Ronda, as well as Spain's second oldest bullring.
