This program option accommodates students at all levels of Spanish language proficiency. Courses will focus on Spanish language, conversation, culture and civilization. Courses are held at the University of Málaga's Center for Cursos de Español Para Extranjeros and are taught by host university faculty. Program participants will benefit from small class sizes. Classmates are international students, the majority of whom are North American.
Students who have completed the following number of semesters/quarters of college-level Spanish or the equivalent typically place into the following language levels:
0-1 semesters (0-2 quarters) = Beginning
2-3 semesters (3-5 quarters) = High Beginning
3-4 semesters (4-6 quarters) = Intermediate
4-5 semesters (6-8 quarters) = Advanced
6+ semesters (9+ quarters) = Superior
It is possible to combine the Intensive Month program with other semester programs.
Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.
Minimum Admissions Prerequisites
There is no language prerequisite for this program.
Courses and course hours of instruction are subject to change.
Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.
