This program offers Spanish language and culture courses taught at the beginning, high beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels, while also offering elective courses taught in English. Courses are held at the University of Málaga's Center for Cursos de Español Para Extranjeros and are taught by host university faculty. Program participants will benefit from small class sizes. Classmates are international students (beginning through intermediate levels) and ISA students (advanced level).
Students who have completed the following number of semesters/quarters of college-level Spanish or the equivalent typically place into the following language levels:
0-1 semesters (0-2 quarters) = Beginning
2-3 semesters (3-5 quarters) = High Beginning
3-4 semesters (4-6 quarters) = Intermediate
4+ semesters (6+ quarters) = Advanced
Students will choose classes from the language level in which they are placed, in addition to electives taught in English. Students will enroll in a minimum of four and a maximum of five courses per semester.
Students may choose to incorporate an Intensive Month program before/after this program starts/ends for an additional cost. Please refer to the Intensive Month program section of the website for more information and to ensure that the program dates will align.
Gap students are also eligible for this program.
Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.
Minimum Admissions Prerequisites
There is no language prerequisite for this program.
Courses and course hours of instruction are subject to change.
Eligibility for courses may be subject to a placement exam and/or pre-requisites.
