Universidad de Málaga
Ranked number 14 among Spanish universities according to the Center for World University Rankings (2014), the Universidad de Málaga (UMA) has exhibited success through its wide range of academic subjects that annually attract students from all over the world, including Asia, Europe, and the United States. The UMA was founded in 1972 as a state institution under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education and Science. Today, the UMA has become the cultural center of the city with an annual enrollment of nearly 35,000 students. This young, but dynamic institution is dedicated to teaching, research, and serving its students.
Popular areas of study at the UMA include:
- Spanish Language
The UMA's Center for Cursos de Español para Extranjeros, located in eastern Málaga, offers courses in Spanish language and culture to international students. ISA students participating in the Intensive Spanish Language (Semester), Spanish Language, Culture, & Electives in English, Intensive Spanish Language (Intensive Month), and Spanish Language & Culture (Summer) programs will take courses on this campus with other American and international students.
There are limited computer facilities at the UMA's Center for Cursos de Español para Extranjeros campus, therefore, most students utilize the wireless and computer facilities available at the ISA office. The ISA office is located right downtown, en route to the university. Students enrolled at this campus have full access to the facilities and resources available on the main UMA campuses (Teatinos and El Ejido), including WiFi, computer labs, libraries, an athletic gym, and intramural sports.
Students participating in the ISA Courses with Locals attend classes located on the UMA's Teatinos Campus, which is situated in the north-western part of the city, 15 - 20 minutes by bus from the ISA office.
