Students may choose between the following Program Terms:
ISA Academic Semester + Service-Learning/Internships
ISA's service-learning and internship division, ELAP, was created to propel students beyond the original confines of the classroom by providing opportunities to work at local NGOs, schools, clinics and businesses. ELAP programs address the needs of the community and organization abroad while encouraging personal and professional growth, developing language proficiency and facilitating meaningful community engagement.
Students will work 5-10 hours per week at a local host organization while attending classes at the host university. The ELAP placement will begin 1-2 weeks after the first week of classes and end the week prior to final exams.
ELAP programs are non-credit bearing. In order for participants to earn internship, service-learning, field study or independent study credit from their home institution, proper arrangements must be made between the student and his/her home university before the program begins. Contact ELAP for information on how past participants have been able to obtain academic credit for their ELAP program.
