Students may choose between the following Program Terms:

Linguistics, Literature, Translation & Other Courses with Locals - Universidad de Salamanca

This program allows students to enroll in courses with local students at the Universidad de Salamanca in a wide variety of academic disciplines. The Universidad de Salamanca is renowned for its language and translation studies, and is on the American Translators Association's list of approved translation schools. This program offers students an entirely immersive study abroad experience at one of Spain's oldest and most prestigious universities.

This program is open to students with a superior-level knowledge of Spanish (students must have completed 6+ semesters of college-level Spanish, or tested out of the equivalent). Students will take a required Intensive Spanish Language course with international students at the beginning of the program before enrolling in courses directly at the University of Salamanca with local Spanish students.

Liberal Arts & Spanish Language - Universidad de Salamanca

The Liberal Arts & Spanish Language program offers courses in English and Spanish in a variety of language, culture, political science,and business topics. Courses taught in English are open to all levels. Content courses taught in Spanish are instructed at the advanced level, but are open to students at the intermediate level and above. Please note that students are completely responsible for their course choices. All classes are taken with other international students from various countries and programs.

Students have the option of incorporating a Salamanca Intensive Month program before and/or after this program for a discounted price. Please refer to the Salamanca Intensive Month page to ensure program dates will align and for more information.

Business & Spanish Language - Universidad de Salamanca

This program is offered to students of any language level and offers business courses taught in English as well as language and culture courses taught in Spanish. Students on this program are required to take two courses from the Business & Spanish Language core business curriculum. The other two or three courses students enroll in may also come from the Core Business Curriculum and/or the Liberal Arts & Spanish curriculum.

Business, Cultural Studies & Spanish - Universidad de Salamanca

Note: Beginning Spring 2017, we will be streamlining our semester program offerings at the Universidad de Salamanca by combining the Liberal Arts & Spanish Language program and the Business & Spanish Language program.

The Business, Cultural Studies & Spanish program is open to students at all language levels, and offers courses instructed in Spanish and English. There are two "tracks" for this program; students should select the track that best fits their field of study and Spanish language level.

Track A: Business & Spanish Language
This track offers a range of business courses instructed in English, as well as Spanish language courses. Students who select this track are required to take two courses from the Business & Spanish Language Core Business Curriculum (meaning, students must enroll in at least one course in English). The other two or three courses students enroll in may also come from the Core Business Curriculum and/or the Cultural Studies course selections (Track B).

Track B: Cultural Studies & Spanish Language

This track offers courses in Spanish and English in a variety of cultural topics, as well as Spanish language courses. All Spanish courses, aside from Spanish language, are taught at the advanced level, but are open to students at the intermediate level and above. Students who plan to take courses in Spanish only should select this track, as there are no required courses taught in English.

Spanish Language & Culture - Universidad de Salamanca

This program accommodates students at all levels of Spanish proficiency. Beginning level courses focus solely on language acquisition while intermediate, advanced, and superior level courses expand on Spanish culture, in addition to grammar. Classes are taught in Spanish by host university faculty and students are in class with international students.

Students can participate in an Intensive Month program before this program begins for an extra cost. Please contact ISA for more details.

Health & Medical Sciences - Universidad de Salamanca

The ISA Salamanca Health & Medical Sciences program allows students to pursue coursework in health communication, bioethics, and human biology, as well as advance in their studies of the Spanish language. Health and science courses are instructed primarily in English.

Students may opt to take a combination of courses from the Health & Medical Sciences program and courses from the ISA Salamanca Business, Cultural Studies & Spanish program. Students who select this option must take at least two courses from the Health & Medical Sciences program.

Please note that this program is only offered during the fall semester. All courses are instructed by faculty from the host university and are held with international students, the majority of whom are North American.
