Spanish Language & Culture -Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo-Santander
This program is designed for students at all levels of Spanish language proficiency. Students with no prior Spanish language knowledge focus solely on language acquisition, while students with an intermediate, advanced, or superior level of Spanish proficiency also take one or two culture courses. Class sizes are small, with no more than twelve students per group, thus ensuring individual attention for each student.
Students are in class with international students, the majority of which are North American. Courses are taught by host university faculty at the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo.
All students must take a Spanish language placement exam upon arrival in Santander. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level, and will determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll. Students who arrive in Spain having completed less than one year of college-level Spanish will likely place into beginning level courses. Students who arrive in Spain having completed one full year of college-level Spanish will likely place into the intermediate level courses. Students who arrive in Spain having completed two years of college-level Spanish will likely place into advanced level courses. Students who arrive in Spain having completed three years of college-level Spanish will likely place into the superior level courses.
