Orientation Information

Pre-Departure Orientation

Prior to their departure students will receive a lengthy and detailed pre-departure online orientation which serves as a primer for their study abroad experience in Spain. Although the on-site orientation will cover the nitty-gritty of life in Santander, the online orientation allows students to read up on pertinent information before their arrival in Spain. It will cover topics such as: culture, housing, budgeting, cell phones, food, the university, and numerous other details. Of course, students are always welcome to contact the Santander Site Specialist with any questions.

On-Site Orientation

Students will fly into Madrid where they will meet the resident director and the other ISA students for several excursions and an on-site orientation. The ISA resident director will provide students with a brief introduction to Spain's history and culture, while also letting students know what to expect with regards to living with a host family, taking classes at a Spanish university, and adjusting to life in Spain. After the initial excursions, you will depart for Santander and move into your housing. You will then be given time to orient yourself within the city, while registering for courses at the university, prior to beginning classes.
