What's Sevilla Like?

Sevilla is a city of life and color. From its narrow winding streets full of shade to its bustling cosmopolitan center, Sevilla has something for everyone. This city is the largest in Andalusia and is growing rapidly, as evidenced by the recently finished subway system.

Like most Spanish cities, Sevilla is divided into neighborhoods that are distinct and varied in feel. The Cathedral, the third largest in the world, is the main centerpiece of the city and draws thousands of tourists each year. As a student, you can experience all of the typical elements of Spain in Sevilla such as flamenco shows, bullfights, tapas and sangria.

To get an idea of Sevilla's Moorish, Jewish, and Christian past, be sure to visit the Alcázar and Judería of the Santa Cruz neighborhood. Nearby, the Universidad de Sevilla keeps the city alive and current with cultural events and symposiums. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll in the Plaza de España or a short siesta in María Luisa Park after the hearty lunch meal.

Finally, the nightlife in Sevilla is unparalleled. Inhabitants of all ages enjoy each other's company until very late by American standards. No matter how you decide to spend your time here, you'll surely fall in love with this gem of the south.
