Students relaxing outside the University of Sevilla

The ISA Sevilla Office

The ISA Office is located in the center of town amongst the winding streets near the Plaza de Alfalfa. Be patient as it will be easy to get a little turned around at first as you attempt to find your way to the office. Streets also change names frequently. The Menéndez Pelayo International University holds its classes here.

The office is located in a recently renovated building of typical Andalucian style. The entrance patio welcomes students for weekly meetings and houses six classroom/meeting rooms (some of which are equipped with multimedia equipment), resident director offices, computer/internet terminals, and kitchen facilities. During normal office hours (Monday - Friday, 9am - 7:30pm), students may come here to access the free computer/internet facilities, receive tutoring, utilize academic and other resources, check the ISA bulletin board for upcoming community and cultural events, or simply visit with the ISA staff.

The Universities

The Pablo de Olavide University (UPO)
The UPO is located on the old estate of Fuentequintillo, about five miles southeast of the city center. It is easily accessible by bus or the Metro. The campus is modern and more similar to a typical American college campus than other European universities.

University of Sevilla

The University of Sevilla is located in the historic center. This 16th century building used to be an old tobacco factory up until the fifties. It houses different university faculties: the School of Literature and Philology, the School of Geography and History and the Law School. The contrast of shadow and sun in its courtyards and green surroundings make it an ideal and inspiring place to study with friends.

The Menendez Pelayo International University (UIMP)
ISA has partnered with the UIMP to expand the UIMP's course offerings in language, culture and business with courses offered in Spanish and English. ISA's Sevilla Academic Center, located in the famous Barrio Santa Cruz, now serves as one of the UIMP's classroom centers, where students of various national origins can go to study.

ISA Housing

ISA students will live in homestays or apartments throughout the city, and located is chosen based on the safety and feel of the neighborhood.

Homestays and apartments are conveniently located near their university on foot or via public transportation. Walking is a way of life in Sevilla, and a wonderful way to explore the city. Most students will be living in the Nervión, Triana or Remedios zones of the city.

Triana/Remedios
Traditionally a Spanish working class district, this neighborhood is the birthplace of bullfighters, folklore
singers and historic personalities. The neighborhood borders the Guadalquiver River and is a great place to visit and explore traditional Sevillano culture. Visit the local ceramic stores or the flamenco tablaos to see this famous genre of music and dance that has made Sevilla, and Spain in general, famous.

Nervión
Nervión is a must-see neighborhood of Sevilla. This neighborhood is a more modernized section of
the city and includes the important commercial district, where much of the Andalucian capital's business
takes place. It is also home to a number of important places like Sevilla's major train stations, and the
stadium of Sevilla FC, one of Sevilla's two major fútbol teams.
