Universidad Pablo de Olavide

Academic Year 4 2016-2017 (Sep 6, 2016 to May 20, 2017)
Catalog Code: ISVY2316

This program offers courses at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide, which is located about 5 miles outside of the city center. There are a variety of courses taught in both Spanish and English, and the subjects vary from history and political science to business and biology. Beginning, intermediate and advanced level Spanish language courses are also available. All classes are with American and other international students. Students with an adequate language level may participate in up to two classes with Spanish students by means of the Program for Integration with the University (PIU). The ISA Hispanic Studies, Business & Spanish Language program is perfect for the student who enjoys a traditional university atmosphere, yet wants regular interaction with Spanish students.

Advanced level students may enroll in content courses taught in Spanish with international students. Additionally, students who score significantly high on the placement exam but are only a few points away from placing into the advanced level may be eligible to enroll in content courses taught at the advanced level, per the discretion of the UPO. It is important to keep in mind that these courses are taught at the advanced language level, and students are fully responsible for their course selections. Students must have completed or tested out of a minimum of two college-level Spanish courses to be eligible for intermediate Spanish language courses. Students must have completed or tested out of a minimum of four college-level Spanish courses to be eligible for advanced Spanish language courses. There is no language prerequisite for beginning Spanish language courses nor courses that are taught in English.
