    PURPOSE
    This module aims to guide students systematically through the chemistry of the main group elements.

    LEARNING OUTCOMES
    By the end of this module, students should be able to:

    • apply the common trends of the periodic table to discuss and predict properties and typical reactions of main group elements;
    • discuss and predict the behaviour of common acids and salts;
    • separate and identify cations and anions, specifically those on main group elements.

    CORE CONTENT
    The chemistry of the main group elements (Groups 1, 2. 13-18).
