This Course is designed for students who have studied Chinese for at least two years with a high intermediate level Chinese proficiency. In this course, students will improve their reading and writing ability further through reading current articles written by modern Chinese writers. This course will cover lessons 1-10 in the textbook.
This course, as the title shows, is an elaborate introduction to Chinese culture. We will use the first column of the textbook. Students will study about Chinese geography, minorities, politics, education, population, holidays, special events, entertainments, Chinese characters, language and ancient myth, etc.
Chinese Newspaper Reading (New)
This course helps students to improve their ability in reading Chinese newspapers and magazines so as to get various information they need for study, life and work. The materials are selected from modern Chinese newspapers and magazines which reflect different aspects of modern Chinese society. While the main purpose is language skills training, students will also learn a lot about China media, Chinese culture, China society etc. Lessons 1-15 will be covered in the textbook.
This course aims to help students learn Chinese through watching, listening and speaking the language. Unlike the traditional method of learning through "model essays", this course allows students to learn through a variety of exercises involving watching a movie segment, listening to the conversations, and thinking about and recounting what they have watched. Chapters 2 and 4 will be covered in this course.
Courses and course hours of instruction are subject to change.
