Students will take three course components. Each course component will be evaluated separately and participants will receive a separate grade for each component on their transcript. Please note- course components may change term-to-term.
Course 2-3 is designed for students who are more advanced than students in course 2-2. It will cover lessons 11-20 in the second volume of the textbook. Students will learn more than 600 new vocabulary words during the semester and continue to improve all other elements of Chinese study.
Students will use the second book. The materials will be more difficult than in book one and more cultural phenomena will be introduced. Students will be trained to speak in long paragraphs and give their opinions on all kinds of social situations. This course will cover lesson 1 to lesson 10 in the second book.
This course is a continuation of course 2-2: Contemporary Reading. Materials will be more difficult than in 2-2. Readings will be assigned based on the instructor, and will include news reports and articles about modern society.
Eligibility for courses may be subject to a placement exam and/or pre-requisites.
Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.
