This course is an introduction to politics in contemporary Korea. The course begins with an overview of diverse theoretical, cultural and historical perspectives on Korean politics and then examines three thematic areas: - political and social dynamics of democratic transformation; - strategies implemented in order to cope with the North Korean issue; - foreign policymaking and the nature of relations with neighbors.
