This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of children?s literature and help them explore the possibilities of using it in English language education along with various teaching methodologies. Students will have the opportunity to understand literary elements of children?s literature by reading various genres of children?s literature such as nursery rhymes, picture books, fairy tales, novels, poetry and plays. Students also will be
encouraged to develop critical reading and thinking abilities through response journals and active class discussions.
1) Students will enhance critical reading and thinking skills.
2) Students will expand knowledge of English Children?s Literature.
3) Students will be familiar with various genres of English Children?s Literature
4) Students will be able to develop ideas for English language education using various kinds of English children's literature
Grading Rubric or Evaluation
Response Journals: 30 points
Quiz: 20 points (with advance notice)
Presentation: 10 points
Term Paper (5-6 pages): 20 points
Participation: 20 points

Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.
