OverviewThis module introduces students to the major playwrights of Irish theatre from Samuel Beckett to Marina Carr. The module explores a number of recent and contemporary companies such as Field Day, Charabanc and Operating Theatre. Students will study the work of Samuel Beckett, Brian Friel, Tom Murphy, Frank McGuinness, Anne Devlin, Christina Reid, Tom Kilroy, Mark O?Rowe, Stella Feehily, Martin McDonagh and Marina Carr. The module will consider key works within socio-cultural contexts as well as their histories of production and reception.

Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.
ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits are converted to semester credits/quarter units differently among U.S. universities. Students should confirm the conversion scale used at their home university when determining credit transfer.
