OverviewThe aim of this course is to present the basis of spoken and written Italian. During the course the students will learn how to communicate in simple everyday situations and will also get in touch with some relevant Italian cultural features. The course is focused on communication: a pragmatic approach will be used, grammar and other theoretical aspects of the language will be discovered step by step together with the instructor. Students will also practice a lot of phonetics in order to learn how to read, write and spell properly the Italian language sounds.

Eligibility for courses may be subject to a placement exam and/or pre-requisites.
Some courses may require additional fees.
ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits are converted to semester credits/quarter units differently among U.S. universities. Students should confirm the conversion scale used at their home university when determining credit transfer.
Availability of courses is based on enrollment numbers. All students should seek pre-approval for alternate courses in the event of last minute class cancellations
