  • Overview

    The aim of the module is to give students an understanding of the main issues in studying the artefacts of the early medieval period (AD 400-800) in Britain and Ireland, skills in the analysis of these artefacts, and more detailed knowledge of the main groups of artefactual material.
    By the end of the module students will be able to analyse the decorative style of artefacts of the period, gain a deeper knowledge of at least one type of artefact, and to critically assess specialist reports and interpretations based on these artefacts.
