  • Overview

    COURSE OBJECTIVE
    By the end of the module, students will be able:
    - to describe the role of the liturgy in the life of the Orthodox Church
    - to explain the significance of Baptism and Eucharist as understood in the Orthodox traditions
    - to analyse the liturgical traditions of the Orthodox Churches in its different cycles: daily, annual-lunar (Paschal) and annual-solar (Feasts of the Lord) cycles

    COURSE CONTENT
    This course introduces students to the central role of liturgical worship within the Orthodox Church. It focuses on the services of Baptism and the Eucharist and the different liturgical cycles.

    TEACHING METHODS
    This module is taught in a blended format of on-line instruction and interaction together with a residential intensive week.

    TYPE OF ASSESSMENT
    On-line assignments (45%), presentation (15%), research paper (40%).
