The student can
Find, interpret and summarize relevant literature;
Conceive and phrase a research question and hypothesis;
Set up an experiment based on a research question;
Execute an experiment and keep record of the findings;
Identify problems and pitfalls, and optimize the design of the experiment;
Present and discuss experimental results in a group;
Write a scientific report based on an experiment
The student will learn how to translate a research question into a laboratory experiment. Literature about respiration will be studied, and
based on that literature the student will phrase his/her own research question and design an adequate experiment to answer that question. The experiment will be executed and the collected data will be discussed with peers and with an assistant. Findings will be presented orally and in a written report. A small number of lectures and tutorials will provide the student with the required theoretical knowledge and

TYPE OF ASSESSMENT
Remark: In case the report is graded insufficient, students are allowed to improve the report immediately using the feedback provided. The grade for a revised report cannot exceed 6.
