  • Overview

    This unit introduces you to the concepts of genetics and evolution and how they underpin all biological sciences. The unit focuses on how genetic variation and evolutionary processes, explain patterns of biological diversity. It develops a contextual framework for a broad understanding of Plant (BVB203), Animal Biology (BVB301) and Ecology (BVB204).
    Learning Outcomes
    On completion of this unit you will demonstrate that you can:
    1. recognise, describe and interpret the fundamental concepts of genetics and inheritance
    2. explain the underlying principles of evolutionary processes
    3. critically analyse biological phenomena in an evolutionary framework
    4. work collaboratively to communicate scientific principles in genetics and evolution for peer review
