OverviewThis unit aims to provide you with an understanding of the aesthetic aspects of various concepts and processes that have been part of the history of photography and are still in use in contemporary photomedia. The unit also aims to give you proficiency in alternative and experimental uses of photographic processes, establishing an understanding of investigative and creative research. By including a range of photographic processes as part of the photographic artist's repertoire, this unit aims to give you a broad range of choices and approaches to creating images. The unit encourages you to engage with photography as a medium for visual and artistic expression in order to extend your own photographic practice.Learning OutcomesOn completion of this unit you should be able to:
- Apply technical skills appropriate to artistic photo-imaging;
- Employ critical reasoning to current and historical concepts in art and photography;
- Solve conceptual problems in photomedia creatively;
- Employ artistic inquiry in photomedia through a self-generated body of work.

Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.
