    Introduction

    This subject introduces students to news writing and reporting for television. It considers the implications of sight and sound on reporting practices. Workshops involve writing exercises, interviewing, basic shooting, news presentation, recording and editing. A strong emphasis is placed on news production for student broadcasts.
     
    Learning Objectives
    1. Upon completion of this subject, students will have demonstrated the ability to produce material for radio.
    2. Upon completion of this subject, students will have demonstrated the ability to differentiate between the differences between broadcast news and current affairs journalism.
    3. Upon completion of this subject students will have demonstrated the ability to meet the requirements for producing and presenting a simple TV news story.
    4. Upon completion of this subject students will have critically evaluated the ethical responsibilities of the broadcast journalist.
    5. Upon completion of this subject students will be able to utilise camera equipment in the production of a news story.
    6. Upon completion of this subject students will be able to utilise editing equipment in the production of a news story.
