This subject examines in detail the various techniques and strategies in the promotion of sport. The issue of professionalism will be addressed which will focus on the necessity of sponsorships, investment opportunities, and fund-raising potential of individuals, teams, clubs and facilities in the broad arena of sport. Students will have an opportunity to discuss the role of the media in the promotion of sport, primarily examining the relationship between media coverage and market value. The ability to develop marketing strategies and plans to present to individuals or organisations will be based around practical application. MKTG11-300: Marketing is a preferred prerequisite for this subject.Learning Objectives1. Understand the importance of marketing for a sport organisation.
2. Articulate how consumer behaviour impacts the marketing of sport.
3. Appreciate the relevance of strategic thinking to the success of current sport marketing practices.
