Academic Information
- Course Selection
The courses listed below are only a sampling of what the university offers. Please see the full Griffith University Course Catalog, linked below, for additional courses. - Internship
As part of the Study Abroad Program at Griffith University, you have the opportunity to undertake an academically assessed internship alongside three other academic courses at the University. The internship is the equivalent of one course (10 Credit Points / 3-4 US credits). If you are interested in participating in this course, please indicate 3002LFC Community Internship on your ISA Pre-Registration form, once accepted. Internship placements are competitive and therefore it is in your best interest to apply early. For more detailed information, click the course link below or contact the Gold Coast Program Manager. - Course Structure
Classes are lecture style with seminar (small group) sessions following the lecture. Focus is on individual study. - Course Credit
Per Griffith University's recommendation, 10 credit points = 3-4 U.S. semester credits (4-6 U.S. quarter credits). The final decision regarding credit transfer is determined by your home university. - Transcript Information
The transcript from Griffith University will reflect credit points for each course listed below. Please be in touch with your U.S. university regarding credit transfer for this program. - COURSE LEVEL RECOMMENDATIONS
ISA offers course level recommendations for the courses listed below. Please note that the course level recommendations are based on Griffith University course codes. All Griffith University course codes contain a 4 digit numeral which indicates the level of the course. Courses that start with 1 are first-year courses, 2 second-year, and 3 third-year. The large majority of courses open to ISA students at Griffith University are part of 3-year degree programs. Course codes beginning with 2 or 3 are recommended as upper division. These ISA recommendations are intended to facilitate the determination of course equivalencies by advisors and credential evaluators at participants' U.S. home institutions.
ISA provides a sample list of courses available on this program; however, for the most up-to-date course listings, please visit the Griffith University Course Catalog linked below.

THERE’S MORE TO DISCOVER WITH ISA

As a student studying in Gold Coast, you will begin your semester with an exciting 4-day Bridging Cultures Program in Byron Bay and you will have the chance to attend one weekend trip and two day trips to the following destinations throughout the semester.

Byron Bay + Bridging Cultures Program
Kick-off your semester abroad with ISA during our 4-day Bridging Cultures Program (BCP) in beautiful Byron Bay. The BCP integrates our ISA on-site orientation with exciting activities aimed at introducing Australian culture, helping you define your study abroad goals, and encouraging you to meet other students. Activities include: Surf Lessons, Aboriginal Culture in Australia Ceremony, a Community Farming Lesson, a Bush Tucker Walk and Food Experience, a Visit to the famous Byron Bay Lighthouse, a Kangaroo and Koala encounter at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, and most importantly, an informative, interactive, and memorable start to your study abroad experience.

North Stradbroke Island
Enjoy a weekend getaway to "Straddie," the world's second largest sand island, and a favorite destination among locals. Soak up the sub-tropical climate and experience one of many unique recreational, historical, and cultural activities that the island provides, including sand-boarding, kayaking, and learning about the distinctive culture of the Quandamooka people. Most importantly, savor the beauty and slow-paced lifestyle of this local gem.

Springbrook National Park and Natural Bridge
Situated within the Gold Coast Hinderland and World Heritage listed Gondwana Rainforest is Springbrook National Park and Natural Bridge. This stunning, often overlooked, environment is the remnant of a volcanic eruption on Mt. Warning in the neighboring state of New South Wales. It boasts impressive waterfalls, an abundance of native vegetation and wildlife, and some of the oldest forests in Australia.

Cultural Activities in Gold Coast
The ISA on-site team encourages you to explore the city and culture of the Gold Coast. The team facilitates this by offering a robust calendar of events that showcases what makes the Gold Coast special.
These activities vary each term, and previous offerings have included Burleigh Heights Beach day, Tallebudgera Creek River Walk, a local rugby game, Miami Marketta, and a Hinterlands Day trip.
