OverviewThe scope and limits of improving access to justice are explored in this subject. The capacity of individuals to enjoy their rights is discussed. The various approaches to delivering legal services for the poor and disadvantaged are critically analysed. A major focus is the development of Australia's community legal centres within the context of the Australian legal aid system. The current trends in the provision of legal aid services are examined and evaluated. Comparisons are made with developments in the USA, UK and Canada.

Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.
