Equivalent to BI308. This course gives advanced consideration to the full range of micro-organisms which occur in the seas. Particular emphasis will be given to their structural, physiological and behavioural adaptations to the marine environment. Major aspects of the roles of microbes in the seas to be considered will be their interactions with other microbes and with higher organisms, marine microbial ecology, and the importance of microbes to the productivity of the seas and their contribution to the marine biomass.

Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.
Please reference fall and spring course lists as not all courses are taught during both semesters.
Availability of courses is based on enrollment numbers. All students should seek pre-approval for alternate courses in the event of last minute class cancellations
