  • Overview

    This course studies a variety of paradoxes and contemporary philosophical responses to them. Paradoxes to be discussed may include: Zeno?s paradoxes, the Sorites paradox, Newcombs? paradox, prisoners? dilemma, the surprise examination paradox, and the liar paradox.

    Learning Objectives
    Students who pass this course will be able to:
    1. integrate disciplinary knowledge and skills developed at 200 level and apply them to the study of philosophical paradoxes.
    2. provide original solutions, or considerations for or against established solutions, to the
    3. engage in original and ethical research in philosophy under close supervision.
