Students may choose between the following Program Terms:
Latin American Studies - Universidad de Belgrano
The Latin American Studies summer program at the University of Belgrano allows students at the advanced Spanish language levels to enroll in upper division survey courses in Latin American Studies. All students will enroll in two courses during this five-week summer program.
Students at the high intermediate level can enroll in the Intensive Spanish Language Summer 1 program prior to the program in order to be eligible.
Intensive Spanish Language - Universidad de Belgrano (UB) - Universidad de Belgrano
This program is designed for students at the beginning, intermediate, high intermediate and advanced levels of the Spanish language.
Students will participate in courses offered at University of Belgrano's language department that focus on Spanish grammar, conversation, and culture. Students will be in class with Americans and other international students.
All students must take an online Spanish language placement exam administered by the University of Belgrano prior to departing for Buenos Aires. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level, and will determine the course in which the student is eligible to enroll.
Students who have completed less than one year of college-level Spanish typically place into beginning level. Students who have completed one full year of college-level Spanish typically place into the intermediate-level courses. Students with three semesters typically place into the high intermediate level, and students who have completed 4 or more semesters typically place into the advanced level.
Gap students are also eligible for this program.

Medical Spanish Immersion - Universidad de Belgrano
The Medical Spanish Immersion summer program is designed for students with a high intermediate or advanced level of Spanish, who are interested in health care and medical terminology. During this 5 week program students will participate in a 60 hour intensive Spanish for Health Professionals course aimed to increase medical conversation vocabulary. In addition to the Spanish course, students will shadow healthcare professionals on 15 hours of clinical rotations. The opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to experiences in their medical placements will allow students to increase Spanish proficiency and cultural competency quickly. Students will be eligible for academic credit for the Spanish language course and will receive a certificate from their placement clinic for hours completed at their medical rotation.
The Spanish for Healthcare Professionals course is taught at the Universidad de Belgrano by local university professors and will include guest lectures from healthcare specialists. ISA participants will take classes alongside other international students. All students will complete a placement exam in order to determine eligibility for the program.
Students with two semesters of Spanish can enroll in Intensive Spanish Language Summer 1 program prior to this program in order meet the language eligibility requirement.
