Filmmaking or Acting for Film - New York Film Academy AustraliaThe Filmmaking or Acting for Film program allows students the opportunity to gain hands-on, industry specific experience on the New York Film Academy's state of the art Gold Coast campus. Students will choose one of two courses: Filmmaking or Acting for Film. Filmmaking: NYFA Australia's Filmmaking course centers around the production of two short films of increasing complexity. Classes in writing, directing, editing, cinematography and production are held throughout the week in the form of traditional class and hands-on workshops. Time outside of class is required for writing, location scouting, casting and editing. Each week, participant's films are screened and critiqued in class with the instructor. The fourth week of the program involves the shooting and editing of the student's final film. Acting for Film: The Acting for Film workshop introduces the basics of acting skills, but provides a specific emphasis on acting for film. Classes focus on the basics of scene study and monologue work, and expand into classes designed to train the actor for the technical requirements of acting on a film set. Previous experience is not required for either course on this 4 week, intensive program. Classes are held Monday-Friday with film projects and production workshops taking place on weekends. The nature of filmmaking and acting requires that students not only dedicate their time to their projects, but also to their peers' projects as crew members. Please note that the NYFA program price does not include excursions.
