The Culture, Portuguese Language & Economics program is open to all Portuguese proficiency levels. This program offers students international economics and cultural studies courses taught in English and Portuguese. Course topics include studies on ethnicity and society and international political economy. Students interested in focusing on Portuguese language should consider the Summer 2: Intensive Portuguese program.
All courses are taught at theby local university professors. ISA students take classes alongside other ISA students.
Please note that a student visa is required for all ISA Brazil summer programs. Please reference thepage for more information. Applying for a visa could require out of state travel.
Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.
Minimum Admissions Prerequisites
There is no language prerequisite for this program.
Courses and course hours of instruction are subject to change.
Eligibility for courses may be subject to a placement exam and/or pre-requisites.
Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.
Availability of courses is based on enrollment numbers. All students should seek pre-approval for alternate courses in the event of last minute class cancellations
