Academic Information

Students who are at the beginning, intermediate or advanced level may choose only from the courses instructed in English for international students and the Spanish language classes, not to exceed 269contact hours. In some cases, students who place into the advanced level may petition to take a course with locals.
Students who possess a high-advanced level of Spanish language proficiency may choose to take up to four courses with locals and five courses overall, not to exceed 269 contact hours.
Students who have not yet completed one semester/quarter of college-level Spanish or the equivalent must choose language as one of their courses.
Courses are held at the main campus of the Adolfo Ibañez University and are instructed by host university faculty. Classmates are local and international students.

Service-Learning Information

In addition to their academic courses, students will have the opportunity to spend 5-10 hours per week at a host organization, increasing language proficiency and gaining valuable international experience. Placements are arranged prior to arrival in the host country and language requirements vary. Visit the ISA Service-Learning website for more information on placement opportunities.
Service-Learning placements are coordinated by ISA and have no affiliation with the university. Students will develop a Portfolio throughout the program, documenting their projects, hours, and program activities.
Students can earn 1-6 credits based on the number of contact hours accrued at the host organization and successful completion of the Portfolio. Visit the Academic Credit page of the ISA Service-Learning website for more information.
