East China Normal University

Established as the first national normal (teacher-training) university in China in 1951, East China Normal University (ECNU) is one of China's key universities recognized and directly managed by the Ministry of Educationof the People's Republic of China, as well as sponsored by the prestigious national program "Project 211" and "Project 985". Since its inception as a teacher-training school, it has grown into a world-class comprehensive institution with superb facilities, including many key state laboratories and research centers. ECNU is composed of 21 schools and colleges with 56 departments offering 76 undergraduate academic programs. With an enrollment of over 45,000 students, the university hosts approximately 5,000 international students each semester.

East China Normal University is known as a "Garden University" due to its stunning campus. With flower gardens throughout the complex, two lakes, a gated entrance that insulates the campus from the noisy streets of the city, and one of Shanghai's most beautiful parks dominating the environment, students will simply enjoy being on campus. The ISA office is conveniently located in the Physics Building on-campus, sharing the same building with the Global Education Center of ECNU. Students have access to tutoring, computers, and sports facilities at the university.

Through the Business, Chinese Studies & Language program, students are enrolled in classes specifically designed for ISA participants. This arrangement ensures subject variety and ISA students will enjoy small class sizes with fellow ISA classmates. Students enrolled in the Intensive Chinese Language program have the opportunity to take courses with other international students.

The university was ranked 65th in the 2015 BRICS QS World University Rankings.
