ISA Academic Information

Open to students at all levels of Spanish, this program is an excellent option for those who want to advance their Spanish proficiency while also fulfilling liberal arts credit.

You will be able to enroll in both Spanish language courses and electives taught in either English or Spanish. Electives that are taught in Spanish are typically only available to students at the advanced or high advanced levels. Your courses will be taught by the faculty at the Universidad Veritas, and you will learn alongside fellow international students.

Due to scheduling conflicts with Service Learning, Students in the Service Learning combo program are limited to taking no more than one 80-hour Spanish course. Additionally, in order to make time for their Service Learning requirements, most sudents will not be able to enroll in more than three courses. Please speak to your Site Specialist if you have any questions.

Service-Learning Information

In addition to their academic courses, students will have the opportunity to spend 5-10 hours per week at a host organization, increasing language proficiency and gaining valuable international experience. Placements are arranged prior to arrival in the host country and language requirements vary. Visit the ISA Service-Learning website for more information on placement opportunities.

Service-Learning placements are coordinated by ISA and have no affiliation with the university. Students will complete a Service-Learning Portfolio throughout the program, which consists of reflective assignments, group discussions, and logs of hours.

Students can earn 3 credits by completing a minimum of 90 hours at a host organization and through successful completion of the Service-Learning Portfolio. Visit the Academic Credit page of the ISA Service-Learning website for more information.
