Summer

Intensive German Language -Freie Universität Berlin

The Intensive German Language program at Freie Universität Berlin (FUB) offers students a large range of Intensive German Language courses, accommodating students at all levels of German proficiency. All students will take a Intensive German Language course focusing on the skills of writing, reading, speaking, and listening. Of particular note is FUB's language tandem program.

Students are not required to have a background in German language in order to participate in this program. Students will be required to complete a language placement exam prior to departure.

Courses are taught by local and visiting faculty at FUB and ISA students take courses with other international students. All courses are taught in German.

Back to back programs are also available to students who would like to participate in two sessions of this program during the summer.

Eligibility

Minimum GPA

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.

Minimum Admissions Prerequisites

Students must have completed at least one year at a college or university at the time of participation.

All students who enroll in a German course are required to take a placement exam prior to departure to determine appropriate language proficiency. Exam results may determine eligibility for course enrollment.

Students wishing to take subject courses taught in German must have language proficiency eqivalent to the upper-intermediate or advanced level.


*Students have to submit the following additional materials to complete their application: photo and an additional application for host university enrollment and registration. The host university enrollment and registration application will be accessible through the ISA student portal upon submission of the ISA application.

Eligibility for courses may be subject to a placement exam and/or pre-requisites.

Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.

ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits are converted to semester credits/quarter units differently among U.S. universities. Students should confirm the conversion scale used at their home university when determining credit transfer.
