The J-Term (January Term) program at The American University of Rome (AUR) is designed for students wanting to complete a Culture or Liberal Arts course in an intensive format. This program can be taken as a precursor to a semester program or as an individual program. This program is ideal for students looking for a iconic Italian experience short term.

Academic Details:

  • Can be taken as a precursor to a semester program or as an individual program.
  • Students will enroll in one 2-week intensive course worth 3 semester credits.
  • Courses are taught in English.
  • No Italian language experience is required for this program.
  • Some courses may require additional fees.
  • Each course offers a field trip as part of the curriculum.
  • Courses will be taught by local and international faculty.
  • Classmates are international students, the majority of whom are North American.

Gap students, 18 years old and older, are also eligible for this program.

Eligibility

Minimum GPA

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.

Minimum Admissions Prerequisites

There is no language prerequisite for this program.

Students must be at least 18 years old by the program start date.

Students must submit a course registration agreement. Additional details will be provided after gaining access to the ISA Student Portal.

Students with a cumulative GPA below 2.5 may be considered for acceptance. They must also submit one letter of recommendation and a statement of purpose.
