The areas of study for international students at Musashi University are:

  • East Asia Studies
  • Japanese Language
All students are required to enroll in at least four courses or 16 Musashi credits. A Japanese language course is NOT required, and students can choose from other classes taught in English, totaling up to a maximum of 20 Musashi credits.

Students can choose to live in a student residence or to find independent off-campus housing.

ISA support services, housing, and insurance are not included during the interim period between sessions but may be added for an additional charge. Additionally, participation in ISA provided excursions is limited to the first semester. For more information about these options, please contact your ISA Tokyo Program Manager.


Minimum GPA

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.75.

Minimum Admissions Prerequisites

  • Students must have at least sophomore standing (second year) at their home university at the time of participation.

Students must also include the following items along with their standard ISA application:

  • One color passport copy
  • One Letter of Recommendation
  • Program Supplemental Admission Form
  • Study Plan
  • Japanese Skill Level Assessment
  • Confirmation of Enrollment at home university
  • Financial Proof of a minimum of ¥100,000 JPY/month (approximately $4,000 USD for the semester)
  • Proof of medical clearance by a practicing physician to participate in study abroad program
  • Five (5) photos (Japanese Alien Registration Card size 4cm x 3cm)

Students will receive these additional ISA Tokyo application documents and instructions in their ISA Student Portal after submitting their initial online ISA application. All application materials must be received on or before the application deadline. Please contact the ISA Japan Program Manager for more details.
