ISA Christchurch semester and year programs allow students to select courses from a wide variety of fields of study allowing their study abroad experience to fit their individual academic needs. Courses are conducted through the University of Canterbury and taught in English by host university professors. ISA students will enroll in courses alongside New Zealand and international students.

Highlights of this Program Include:
  • Traditional campus located 3 miles from downtown Christchurch and just 1.5 hours from the Southern Alps
  • Offers semester-long internships for academic credit (PACE295) in Arts, Business, Communications, Environmental Science, Media, and more
  • Opportunity for community involvement though the service-learning course, CHCH 101
  • Opportunity for Rugby program add on to advance students rugby skills (additional $1000 - $2000 NZD cost)
  • Strong Programs in Engineering; Antarctic Studies; Speech Pathology; Sport Coaching; Astronomy; Foresty; Biology
  • Housing: Students will be placed in self-catered, apartment style student housing on campus
  • Multi-day Bridging Cultures Program orientation in Auckland and Rotorua
  • Optional semester break excursions to Thailand, East Coast Australia, Bali, Ayers Rock/Uluru, or New Zealand's South Island
Semester + Semester Programs Available: Students may participate in the Spring + Fall OR the Fall +
Spring sessions of this program by selecting their two semesters of interest when submitting the initial

Minimum GPA

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.80.

Minimum Admissions Prerequisites

There is no language prerequisite for this program.

Students must have at least sophomore standing (second year) at their home university at the time of participation.

Students are required to submit an official transcript along with the application.
