Auckland and Rotorua Bridging Cultures Program

Location: New Zealand


The Bridging Cultures Program (BCP) encompasses the ISA on-site orientation delivered to all students at the onset of their ISA program, along with exciting activities aimed to introduce students to their new host country. The BCP brings together ISA students from various programs throughout the region to Auckland and Rotorua, where key emphasis is placed on areas related to goal setting, intercultural awareness, diversity and professional development. The Bridging Cultures Program serves as a great opportunity to meet other students who will be abroad the same semester, while experiencing an unique destination and gaining valuable information.

Day 1
-Arrive to Auckland
-Walking tour of Auckland
-Orientation Session 1
-Walk to AUT marae for Maori cultural experience and hangi dinner

Day 2
-Orientation Session 2
-Lunch in Auckland City
-Depart for Rotorua
-Visit to Hobbiton

Day 3
-Orientation Session 3
-Free time
-Swimming in the Wai-o-tapu Thermal Wonderland hotsprings, mud pools, and Blue and Green lakes

Day 4
-Learn and perform the Haka, a traditional war dance and cry of the Maori people
-Visit Hamilton Gardens
-Leave Rotorua for Auckland Airport, depart to host city (if applicable)

The Rotorua Bridging Cultures Program is included in the program fee for semester and year students. Some meals and activities may have additional costs.

*The Bridging Cultures Program itinerary is subject to change and, in some rare cases, ISA may choose not to hold it in Rotorua due to weather or logistics.
