Students may choose between the following Program Terms:

Business, International Studies & Communication Courses with Locals in English - Universidad Carlos III de Madrid

This program at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) offers a variety of lower and upper division courses in a variety of subjects, including business, economics, international studies, and journalism. Students have the unique opportunity to take these courses in English with local Spanish students, as well as with other international students.

Students may select courses taught in English from the following departments:

  • Business Administration (AACSB accredited)
  • Economics
  • Film, Television and Media Studies
  • Finance and Accounting (AACSB accredited)
  • International Studies
  • Journalism
  • Philosophy, Politics and Economics

Students with an advanced level of Spanish or higher (minimum 5 semesters of college-level Spanish) may also take liberal arts courses instructed in Spanish with international students.

All courses are instructed by faculty from the host university and are held with either local or international students. Students take class on the Getafe campus, located south-west of Madrid's city center.

Hispanic Studies- Universidad Antonio de Nebrija - Universidad Antonio de Nebrija

This program offers Spanish language courses to students at all levels of Spanish proficiency. Students with a higher language level can also choose from a variety of Hispanic Studies courses. All courses are taught in Spanish by faculty from the host university and are held with international students, the majority of whom are North American. This program offers the option to begin with a preparatory Spanish language course before the start of the semester (Fall 2A, Spring 2A, Year 2A).

Spanish Language, Liberal Arts & Business- Universidad Antonio de Nebrija - Universidad Antonio de Nebrija

This program is open to students at all levels of Spanish proficiency. A wide variety of courses are available including Spanish language, literature, history, culture, art, business, economics, marketing, and more. This program offers courses in both Spanish and English. All courses are taught by faculty from the host university and are held with international students, the majority of whom are North American. Spanish Language & Courses with Locals- Universidad Antonio de Nebrija - Universidad Antonio de Nebrija

The "Spanish Language & Courses with Locals" program is open to students with an advanced knowledge of Spanish (students must have completed 5+ semesters of college-level Spanish, or tested out of the equivalent). This program offers a variety of courses to select from, enabling ISA students the opportunity to enroll in courses that fit their individual academic needs. All courses are taught by host university faculty at the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija. ISA participants will take classes alongside primarily Spanish students, as well as international students.

Students may select courses from the following departments:

  • Communication & Arts (Programa Integrado de Comunicación y Artes, PICC)
  • Social Sciences (Programa Integrado de Ciencias Sociales, PICS)
  • Language & Education (Programa Integrado de Lenguas y Educación, PIAL)
  • Polytechnic School (Programa Integrado de la Escuela Politécnica Superior, PIEPS)

Within these departments, students will be able to choose courses from a variety of academic disciplines, including: Advertising/Public Relations, Architecture, Audio-Visual, Communications, Business Administration and Management, Engineering, Fine Arts, International Relations, Industrial Design, Journalism, Law, Modern Languages, Performing Arts, and Tourism.

Fall and Academic Year students will take one 45-hour intensive Spanish course before beginning the fall semester. Courses with locals are instructed in Spanish and in English. Students must select at least one course in Spanish (in addition to the intensive-Spanish course at the beginning of the fall semester).

Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Courses with Locals in English - Universidad Carlos III de Madrid

This program at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) offers a variety of lower and upper division science, technology, engineering and math courses, all of which are instructed in English by host university professors. Several of the engineering departments at UC3M have been awarded the EUR-ACE (EURopean-ACredited Engineer) label, as they satisfy the standards of the ENAEE (European Network for Engineering Accreditation).

All courses meet on UC3M's Leganés campus, located south-west of Madrid's city center. Tutoring is available through the university for an extra fee (per course).
