ISA Housing provides the opportunity for students to experience aspects of the Spanish lifestyle that are inaccessible to the average visitor of Spain. All ISA housing options are either within walking distance or conveniently located near public transportation. Travel times to the various university buildings generally range between 15 and 40 minutes depending on housing and class locations. Please note: All housing is subject to availability.
The experience of living in another culture will be both educational and rewarding as long as you stay open-minded at all times. There are differences in culture and lifestyle between life in Spain and the U.S. Remember: the key to a positive experience is flexibility. With this in mind, you can become a true Español/a!
Homestays are the norm for Spain, where students usually share a bedroom with another ISA student. Students have the option of paying extra to secure an individual room. Students who choose the Homestay option will be provided with three meals per day (except on ISA excursion days) and laundry service once a week for the official duration of the program.
Residencias are basically a cross between a small dorm and a boarding house, and are assigned on a first-come/first-serve basis. Students living in the residencia will be housed with other international students and Spanish students. Please note that the residencia is a private business and does not have a direct affiliation with the University of Malaga. Three meals per day are included (with some exceptions), as well as laundry service. Students usually share a room with another ISA student, but have the option of paying extra to secure an individual room. This option is only available for semester or year program students.
A $500 housing deposit is required from students choosing this option. ISA may retain some, or all, of this deposit in the case of damage to property.
Students may opt to secure housing independently. Students who select this option receive a discount equal to the housing portion of the program price.
