Education in a Multicultural Context - ISA Study Center with Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo

ISA Study Center with Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo-Sevilla

Fall 5 2017 (Sep 17, 2017 to Dec 14, 2017)
Catalog Code: ISVF1217

For students pursuing careers in education or teaching, this program allows students to take education-specific courses alongside completing an internship at a local school. In addition to taking a full courseload at the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo, students will participate in an academic internship at a local school teaching English as a foreign language for two hours a week gaining hands-on experience working with students and faculty.

Students are required to enroll in the Second Language Acquisition: Theory and Practice course. The rest of their classes can be selected from Education Courses in English or from the full course offering in ISA's International Studies, Business & Spanish Language semester/year program. Alongside their coursework, they will complete an internship for two hours per week at a local school and/or public library.

All students take a placement exam upon arrival to determine their Spanish language proficiency level. Exam results may determine eligibility for course enrollment.

Advanced level Spanish speakers may choose to add on a Two-Week Intensive Spanish Language course for an additional fee. For more information, click here.

This program was initially designed for academic year students. Please visit the Academic Year page for more information.

**Students can add an optional Intercultural Seminar to the end of their program, which would extend their program by three days. In this seminar they will reflect on their experiences abroad while also discussing and analyzing the elements that shaped their cultural immersion. Students who choose to add this seminar to their program will be required to obtain a student visa, while those who do not add the optional excursion will not be eligble for a student visa. For more information, please contact your Site Specialist.**

Please note that a student visa is required for programs over 90 days. Please reference the Student Visa & Embassy page for more information. Applying for a visa could require out of state travel.
