Mahidol University

1889 Majesty King Chulalongkorn, the Great Rama V, founded Mahidol University, making it the oldest educational institution in Thailand. Mahidol University International College (MUIC) offers most of the university's international undergraduate programs. Founded in 1985, MUIC was added on as one of the many great changes Mahidol University made throughout the years. Accredited by the Thai Ministry of Education, MUIC provides a high standard of international education and encourages independent and analytical thinking. International students make up about 15% of Mahidol's 26,000 students.

MUIC offers a wide variety of programs in Arts, Sciences, and Administration. The classroom encompasses an interactive environment, which encourages discussion and critical explorations of ideas.

The campus is 10 minutes away from both the ISA student housing and office. Located on the outskirts of Bangkok, students will enjoy a simple commute to class as well as have easy access to the city center. MUIC provides a lot of accommodations to allow students to study in a quiet environment, such as libraries, computer labs, and gardens.

Mahidol University was ranked Thailand's No. 1 university in 2015 by QS Asian University Rankings.

While at Mahidol, students are required to wear a uniform. Students can either bring uniform clothes from home or purchase them after they get to Thailand, except for the belt buckle, which they will buy during their Mahidol orientation.

A regular uniform for female students consists of:
  • Plain and not-too-sheer white blouse
  • Length of the blouse should be below the waist so it can be completely tucked into the skirt.
  • The blouse must not be too tight.
  • Sleeves above the elbows
  • Appropriate-length, plain dark blue, navy or black skirt
  • Leather or suede belt with the Mahidol University buckle. (purchased onsite)
  • A Mahidol University brooch is to be pinned on the right side of the blouse. (purchased onsite)
  • Plain black shoes or plain sport shoes
A regular uniform for male students consists of :
  • Plain white shirt
  • Dark blue, navy, black, brown or dark grey trousers
  • Plain black or dark colored shoes or plain sport shoes
  • Black or dark-colored socks
  • Leather or suede belt with the Mahidol University buckle.
