Student Visa and Embassy Information

All students are required to have a passport. The demand for passports tends to be heaviest between January and August. However, backups and delays can occur at any time of the year due to various reasons and even for expedited service, so be sure to apply as early as possible- several months in advance. To obtain a Thai student visa, your passport MUST be valid for six months after your program end date.

Students are required to apply for a Non-Immigrant Education "ED" Visa through the Royal Thai Consulate before they begin their studies in Thailand. You are ultimately responsible for securing your visa. ISA will send you the necessary paperwork to apply for your visa around 4 to 6 weeks before your departure. Students do NOT need to apply in person. Once your visa is granted, you will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a 90 day period per entry and can apply for an extension at the Office of Immigration Bureau onsite.

*You will not be permitted to work under a student visa in Thailand*

If you have a citizenship of country rather than the U.S., you need to check with your local embassy or consulate to verify entry requirements for Thailand. As these requirements vary based on citizenship, non-U.S. citizens may be required to submit additional documents. Also, visa fees for non-U.S. citizens may differ so please be sure to check your specific consulate's website for the most up to date information. For more information on obtaining a Thai Visa, students can refer to 'Visa Information & Responsibility' form in their Student Portal or contact
