ISA Embedded Offices

ISA Embedded Offices provide an on-campus presence to complement existing education abroad operations at some of ISA's US institutional partners. In this model, ISA staff member(s) are based on the partner university's campus to provide support for university-led education abroad objectives and goals.

ISA adheres to a strong ethical framework in creating and managing the ISA Embedded Office on campus. The establishment of these embedded offices is a result of an extensive bidding process directed by the U.S. institution. ISA firmly holds that students should seek out programming most aligned to their goals and needs. As a result, ISA has no expectation of exclusivity in these partnerships.

In addition, ISA staff members in the embedded office follow all university education abroad office protocols and procedures, especially as it relates to only advising students after they have selected an ISA program. ISA efforts on campus align with the university's education abroad initiatives, focusing on faculty engagement, course mapping and other strategic initiatives. One of the primary goals of ISA's presence on campus is to generate increased awareness of education abroad opportunities overall, leading to increased student participation.

ISA currently maintains embedded offices at two U.S. Universities:

ISA Kentucky

ISA Kentucky, ISA's inaugural Embedded Office, was established in 2012 on University of Kentucky's campus in Lexington. Housed within the UK International Center, two full-time ISA staff members support strategic university initiatives, collaborate on faculty-directed programs and manage a team of fully trained ISA Global Ambassadors (participants in the Global Ambassador Program for ISA alumni to promote education abroad opportunities on campus). Support for ISA partner universities in the Commonwealth of Kentucky is also based out of this office. Please feel free to contact or visit the ISA Kentucky Embedded Office at:

Founded in 2016, ISA Missouri is based within the Study Away Office of Missouri State University. The ISA Missouri State Embedded Office Director works in conjunction with the Study Away Office to further strategic university initiatives, collaborate on faculty-led programs and lead a team of ISA Global Ambassadors. Support for ISA partner universities in the state of Missouri and Arkansas is also based out of this office. Please feel free to contact or visit the ISA Missouri Embedded Office at:
