FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Is a deposit required for the ISA application?

Yes, and it's only $95. The deposit also counts toward your program balance.

  • Is my deposit refundable

The deposit is non-refundable once submitted. However, if you withdraw before the deadline we can apply it towards another ISA program of your choosing. If your application is rejected by ISA or the host university for not meeting the requirements, you may be eligible for a refund.

  • If I want to apply to more than one ISA program do I have to send in multiple applications?

You only need to submit one application, and you'll pay a $95 deposit for each program location.

  • When do I send in my transcript or anything else that's required?

After you submit the online application, we'll send log in details for you to access the ISA Student Portal. This is where you'll submit the materials to complete your application.

  • Do I have to send in an official transcript

Yes, we'll need an official transcript from every college or university you've attended.

  • Does the Statement from the University form have to be signed by my university study abroad office?

Yes, if you are currently enrolled.

  • Do I need a passport to go on an ISA program?

Yes, but you can still start the first part of application process without one! Some programs require a copy during the second part of the application, so if you plan to study abroad, visit the U.S. Department of State website to learn how to apply. It can take up to 8 weeks, so we recommend getting it expedited which can take as little as 2!

  • Can I participate in a program right out of high school?

Yes, check out our Gap Year section for a list of programs for students who haven't started college yet.

  • Can I participate in a program if I have already graduated or am currently a graduate student?

It depends on the program. Contact the ISA Program Manager of the program in which you'd like to participate.

  • My GPA does not meet the minimum requirement. Can I still apply?

Many programs are flexible with the GPA requirement, but it depends on the host university. Reach out to the ISA Program Manager to check eligibility.

  • It is after the application deadline. Can I still apply?

Even if the deadline has passed, we'd still love to have you join us abroad if possible! Check with the ISA Program Manager to see if there is still time to apply.

  • Can I also participate in an internship or volunteer while I am abroad?

Yes! We have many locations where you can participate in a full-time internship or service-learning program. There's also study programs where you can participate in an internship or service-learning while taking courses.

  • What happens after I'm accepted?

First, we'll happily congratulate you! You'll get an email from us and access to new items in your ISA Student Portal. These items are due by the date listed.
