Course outline:
Module B of EEE3055W. This module provides an advanced introduction to overhead 3-phase power transmission lines. Short, medium and long line models. RF and microwave transmission lines, coaxial lines, micro strip, wave guides and fibre optic transmission lines. Equivalent circuit and line constants, two port equations, propagation, attenuation and phase constant, characteristic impedance, incident and reflected waves, reflection coefficient, the Smith Chart, standing waves, high frequency loss-less lines, and line matching examples.24 lectures, 5 tutorials, 1 design project
DP requirements: Satisfactory completion of coursework.
