Course outline:
This course is an advanced introduction to the functioning of the city, transport in context, transport and land-use; transport and the economy; transport and the society; transport and sustainability. Modes of transport. Traffic engineering: traffic flow theory and traffic data collection. Transport policy and the decision maker. The transport planning process and transport modelling. The use of GIS in the transportation context. Professional communication (presentation skills) is also included.52 lectures, 13 tutorials.
