  • Overview

    Course Content:

    The student will learn and consolidate the technical foundations of specific dance forms;
    learn the terminology used in class and develop an understanding of the role and
    function of:
    (i) Dance technique as a key foundation to the development of dance and artistic
    practices.
    (ii) Dance class as a site for the development of skills and preparation for performance.

    Topics covered include:
    ? Ballet
    ? Contemporary dance (e.g. Cunningham technique, Limón, Graham,
    release, contact)
    ? Natural Movement (Madge Atkinson?s method)
    ? Street Dances (e.g. hip-hop, breaking, Krump, Popping and Locking, B-girl
    and B-boying)
    ? Spanish Dance (e.g. flamenco, escuela bolera)
    ? Reflective Practice
    ? Preparation for performance (e.g. body conditioning)

    Teaching: Practical Sessions and Seminars

    STUDY OPTION 1:

    Similar to study option 1
